Similar to the Multiplayer Game, the Co-op Game is fought between The Golden Buccaneers and
The Crown, with the players taking the role of the Buccaneer faction. The scoring system is
the same as the Multiplayer Game, with both factions attempting to finish the match with a
higher score than the enemy faction. Unlike the Multiplayer Game, the Co-op Game does not
start with balanced scores. Instead the AI-controlled Crown faction will have a massive score
advantage over the players.
The game is also fought with a time limit, ensuring that both players must fight hard and
co-operate with each other to achieve victory. As with the Multiplayer Game, the players will
gain points for destroying enemy buildings and for capturing enemy treasure boats, while sinking
enemy ships will reduce the enemy's score. The players' score will decrease, however, each time
either of them is sunk. The number of points lost is determined by the value of the ship that
the player is using at the time. More powerful ships might seem an obvious choice, but losing
one will more seriously impact the Buccaneer team score and make it more difficult to achieve
victory.
The Co-op Game itself is broken down into 5 separate mini-campaigns, each containing 4 individual
missions. Once a campaign is selected the players are presented with the first mission, which must
be completed successfully to unlock the next mission. If a mission is failed, the players must
retry it and can not proceed with the campaign until they have successfully completed the map they
are on. A running score is kept as the players progress through the levels and this will be uploaded
to the Hall of Infamy once a campaign is completed successfully.

In the Co-op Game the players will not have a Home Port, but will rely instead
on a friendly Support Ship. The Support Ship is always located near the players'
spawn positions and is marked on the compass at the centre of a series of
concentric yellow rings - making it easy to find from anywhere on the mission map.
|
The Support Ship provides a number of valuable functions and is effectively
a home from home for the Buccaneer faction. It is primarily a dockyard facility
and any Buccaneer ships stopping near the Support Ship will automatically be
repaired and restocked with gunpowder.
It is also where players should bring enemy treasure boats for a team score boost.
Each time a treasure boat is returned to the Support Ship it will respawn at the Crown
port - so it is possible for players to work together in relay to increase the rate
at which they return treasure to their ship.
For a closer look at some of the different ship types used by
both factions, check out the
Ship Classes section of the website.
